Find reviews, info about validity, reliability of tests in PsycINFO
Another tip about finding Tests and Measures. When you get into PsycINFO, type in the domain of interest to you in the search box — say, body image.
Then, where it says “Only choose content where”, change the dropdown menu to Classification Codes.
In the box to the right, choose the numbers for the types of tests you’re interested in. For this, I’d choose (use ctrl + click):
- 2200 Psychometrics & Statistics & Methodology
- 2220 Tests & Testing
- 2222 Developmental Scales & Schedules
- 2223 Personality Scales & Inventories
- 2224 Clinical Psychological Testing
- 2225 Neuropsychological Assessment
- 2226 Health Psychology Testing
This should bring up articles that have a strong focus on Tests and Measures in your field.
Here are the results from the Body Image search:
(I was thrilled to find out that this actually worked!)
This is a very “thoughtful” and necessary set of instructions for a specialized search. It’s too bad I didn’t know about this sooner since I was once assigned to look for “experimental” research articles in the social sciences, of which there are few and they are hard to find. These instructions would have helped.
